New Delhi: India reported its second casualty due to coronavirus on Friday with the health ministry saying a 68-year-old woman died in Delhi.
The death was caused due to co-morbidity (diabetes and hypertension), it said, adding she had tested positive for COVID-19.
The woman was admitted in Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, officials said.
According to the health ministry’s statement, the woman had history of contact with her son who had returned from Switzerland and Italy on February 23. He was in Europe between February 5 and 22.
She became the second person to die of coronavirus infection in the country. On Thursday, the first death was reported in Karnataka.
Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Friday that the novel coronavirus outbreak was at the “containment stage”, adding that the Centre and the Delhi government had been working together to deal with it.

Kejriwal urged the people to not hoard sanitisers and masks, which is he said was not needed for those who are healthy as COVID-19 was not an airborne disease.
